Featured Indie Artist: Harrilu

I am so excited to share one of of my favorite local Dallas designers, Megan Mucci, and her amazing  hand silkscreened designs that she sells through Harrilu (( pronounced Hārry-Loo). Harrilu’s name comes from her small-yet-mighty mutts Harriet & Pippa Lou. This creative genius is a graduate of  University of Texas at Austin with a  BS in Communications/Advertising. She worked in the corporate world for a bit before becoming an art-trepeneur (yes, I know it’s not a real word!). Megan combines her love of screenprinting with her ‘oodles of doodles’ that she continues to create to make her fresh & fun designs for Harrilu.

Megan will be one of the vendors at the upcoming Etsy Dallas Jingle Bash so if you live in Dallas-Fort Worth area don’t forget to save the date (Nov 21st) and come and see her goods in person like this darling aqua tee!

Featured Indie Artist: KarmaCrochet

Karma Crochet

Patricia of Karma Crochet

Patricia Ivanisevic isn’t really sure when she started crafting. Her mother was a seamstress and a tailor, so she grew up surrounded by yarn and fabric. Whilst living in Argentina, she got her first Barbie but there were no clothes available. Using her mother’s scraps, she knit, crocheted and sewed fabulous fashions for Barbie. She felt the magic of creating something from a little stringy thing (aka yarn) and the rest is history!

She admits that she’s a geek in disguise and that most people are really surprised by that. Hmm. Geek + creative= Yes, it’s possible!

At the moment, Patricia takes inspiration from colors that speak to her. In the past, it may have been an object, shape or image that spoke to her to be recreated from yarn.

Here are a few of her favorite designs:

I’m always curious what other artist’s work spaces are like. My studio is filled with creative clutter (hey, I make it work!). Patricia is in the process of organizing everything and says she works in chaos! Hmm, this looks pretty neat & tidy to me.  She works in several spaces and says the only place she doesn’t work from is the bathroom!

Embarqadero
Heads up DFW! You have a new place to shop locally for handcrafted goods in NE Dallas. Colleen & Scott Goodrich recently had the grand opening for the Embarqadero.

NE Corner by CVS

I met Colleen through a Shecky’s show and I’m sure glad she kept my business card. When she opened Embarqadero, I received an invitation to the Grand Opening and had the opportunity to meet with her to discuss including my work in the shop.

I was tickled to see a dichroic glass pendant “reinvented” in one of her beautiful necklace designs that she had for sale. I was having “green envy moments” when she shared some of her amazing finds in her stash that haven’t made it into a completed jewelry design yet.

Her husband ,Scott, creates wood and leather crafted goods with amazing detail to workmanship.

Grab a friend and shop local handmade goods. The Embarqadero has the following hours:

Hours:
Tuesday 12-6
Wednesday 10-6
