Friday Funnies
A friend passed this on and I just had to share……if you have kids, I’m sure you will see the humor in this!

Sew Crafty Holiday
With the kiddos out of school since last Friday, we’ve been “sew” crafty and gearing up for the holidays. I finally found the time to work on some wool felt ornaments that I purchased as a kit from Plum Creek Collectibles whilst in Houston for the Fall quilt festival. Tammy De Young, the owner, was such a sweet gal and she’s from Texas too. Her designs were just so adorable that I bought two wool felt pattern/kits.
My daughter and I also dug out our paints, brushes & glitter to work on clay , metal and glass holiday ornaments. A little hot chocolate and whole bunch of cookies later, we were like our own little ornament factory!

Phew, yep we were busy……but I did find time to bake myself another of my favorite treats from Living Without-gluten free cranberry scones. Yummy!!
And of course, I had to give my Pfaff a little holiday loving too. I created this little “Jingle” table topper that was inspired by a post on Moda Bakeshop by Melissa Mortenson of Polkadot Chair. I just love the Figgy Pudding line by Basic Grey for Moda and will cherish this little table topper for years to come ! So, thank you Melissa for being so generous with your creativity!!

I also made myself a little Christmas present…..the Swing Bag by Amy Butler. Isn’t it darling? I didn’t use Amy Butler fabrics (sorry Amy) because I fell in love with this line Picadilly by Pamela Mostek for Clothworks. The cool thing is this bag is reversible and I can take the scarf off and wear it too! Sweet or what! And don’t look to closely at my fabric bursting out of my hutch!
Raiding the pantry….
This morning was hectic. The kids and I got up a little early to get the cupcakes for the class holiday party iced and sprinkled. Of course, we all had to sample the butter cream icing and I’m sure the teacher’s will appreciate (yeah right) the fact that my kids were acting like they had ants in their pants from the sugar high! ;-0
While our family is blessed to have a home and a pantry full of food, there are many families who are not so fortunate. My daughter’s class is collecting canned food to donate to a local shelter as a service project. So, this morning we raided our pantry to create two food donation bags which included Macaroni & Cheese, peanut butter, crackers, soups, beans and assorted vegetables. They both really wanted to put in fresh fruit but I explained that the pantry we are donating too is doing a one time collection from the school and the fruit might spoil before it got there. I told them I would look up what pantries in our local area accept “fresh produce” so we can make an additional donation.
My daughter also took an unwrapped toy that she purchased with her own money to donate to another service project at school. Every since she found out about the service project, kids helping kids over the holidays, she has been setting aside part of her allowance to buy a gift. Aw, it’s making this mom tear up!
Don’t forget to share your “giving spirit” to be entered into the Giving Spirit Giveaway (you have the chance to inspire others and win an one of a kind necklace that I designed).
Give Thanks

Give Thanks
In true “Randi-Sue” style, I just finished this table runner last night. Gosh, why do I always procrastinate? Hmm, because that’s how I roll ( I work best under pressure always!). I had just enough left over Gobble, Gobble fabric (by Sandy Gervais for Moda) from my coin quilt to make this darling Thanksgiving Holiday table runner. It was a quick sew and I used “x’s” to quilt it. I used some gorgeous burnt orange silk dupioni for the backing. Whilst at quilt market, I purchased some orange Pebeo paint. Using some letter stamps, I stamped the words-Give Thanks. I also scrounged out a darling acorn stamp in my scrapbook stash.

Halloween Loot

Sugar Overload?!
The kiddos have so much Halloween loot that they’ve been stacking & building “sweet candy” houses! ;-0 Talk about major sugar overload! Hope everyone had a safe Trick or Treat night!

Halloween Photo Fun
I was hanging out on Ree’s blog, The Pioneer Woman, and checking out a few of her Photoshop tutorials (because I’m “dense” when it comes to PS) when I noticed a comment about a fun photo alteration site called Picnik. The kids and I have been having a blast altering photos all week. We’ve been using the free version but are thinking of upgrading to the premium because it is that entertaining!
Here’s a little Halloween Photo Fun……trick or treat!!

Go on, you know you want to have some fun too!!

Isn’t she just darling ?!
Where the Wild Things Are
The kiddos are pumped because today the amazing school librarian, Ms Marshall, has arranged a celebration of the movie being released that is based on the book by Maurice Sendak, “Where the Wild Things Are.” The whole school will read the book and then rotate between 4 stations for “Wild Rumpus Day” that includes a bounce house and face painting.

Any Wild Things here?
Our family plans on seeing the movie and I can’t wait to share this with kids as it was one of my favorite books as a child.
Last Day of Summer Vacation
We surprised the kids with a little road trip out of the Big D for their last day of summer vacation. Our first stop in East Texas was in Canton at the Dairy Palace for one of the best shakes you will ever taste. Why? Because they only use Blue Bell ice cream and whole milk. John’s fave is strawberry while mine is chocolate!!!

I would have taken a picture of the kiddos and their ice cream but they literally inhaled it!
Our next stop was at a local private lake where we could get out and stretch and enjoy the hot Texas sunshine and magnificent view! Blake was wishing that we had told him to bring his fishing gear. His nick name is “Little Bass Boy” because he loves to fish for you…well, as you probably already guessed-bass!

Brittney was checking out the vegetation around the lake. She loves checking out all the different kinds of flowers and plants wherever we go!
One of the best things about road trips in East Texas are the road side fruit & vegetable markets/stands. We just had to stop and pick up some fresh picked peaches and okra! There is nothing like having sweet peach juice dribble down your chin. Yummo!

Plus, the kids were enthralled by the raw honey with the comb still in the jar. As a kid, I lived by a few bee farmers and was spoiled because I would only eat honey if it came on the comb! Doesn’t it look delicious…

While I can’t believe the kids are back in school today and the house is so quiet, I’m glad we made the most of our last day of summer vacation by taking a road trip and making memories!
