Scrap Quilt
I recently challenged myself to make a quilt from my scraps and not buy any fabric (except for the backing). I was inspired by the colorful elephants of the Laurel Burch fabric that I’ve been hoarding for several years now because I just couldn’t bear to cut it up!!! My batik stash was perfect for complimenting all the various brightly colored elephants. I choose black and white fabric for that “visual pop” and picked red to pull it all together. I love the way it turned out. I just made blocks and had fun with some flying geese. Don’t look to close at my flying geese because I need more practice making sure I get them all “pointy”!! I auditioned it all on the floor because I don’t have a design wall (honey, are you reading this because you can add that to my Christmas wish list!!) and then finished piecing it.

Scrap Quilt close up
Sharrie, my BFF and fabric guide, helped me pick out this fabulous backing at our local quilt store, Quilt Country. I used my trusty Pfaff to “free-motion” quilted a random stipple using a variegated rainbow thread (yeah, I know you have to look real close) and I love the way it turned out!

On the flip side
Woohoo! Now, I have room for more fabric and my kiddos have a new lap quilt to snuggle up with! ;-0

Fantastic Randi Sue!
